A factory worker and his girlfriend, a hairdresser, were recently found in possession of a cocaine-laced pandoro, Florence police report.
According to authorities, the culprits substituted the powdered sugar that comes with the traditional Italian Christmas cake with cocaine. The cakes were then given to clients as a Christmas gift in an effort to elude police in what was in reality a drug deal.
The two have been charged with drug trafficking as police also found a book containing the names of their clients and seized 500 grams of cocaine, which was hidden in the girlfriend’s lingerie drawer in her home. Police estimate the two trafficked 80,000 euro worth of cocaine in the month of December alone.
