There are only five days remaining in the Italian football championship and the Fiorentina does not seem to be winning its battle against automatic elimination from the A Series.

Although a tied game against Bologna would not have been that bad under normal conditions, earning just one point now on the classification list does nothing more than add to the agony.

Unfortunately, all have resigned to the fact that Mr. Zoff, the third in a series of coaches who have tried to save the team from drowning, does not have the characteristics necessary to give the emotional push to a very valid group of players whose main problem is their fear of losing. This was all but evident in last weekend’s very prudent game.

Mr. Zoff is considered a myth in the football world. He was the goalie in the World Championships in Spain in 1982, very educated on football, and a very educated and sincere person, but what he does lack completely is that charge of energy that would be the best medicine for the Fiorentina at this time. However, changing coaches may not the answer, in fact, it would probably only make the Fiorentina the laughing stock of Italy. Especially considering the words of team president Della Valle (Mr. Tod’s): “Enough with this Italian trend of always changing coaches, we want to bring a new method to football. We will choose just one and then we will begin the cycle”.
