The American fast food chain Five Guys has opened at Santa Maria Novella train station.
Benefitting from double access in via Alamanni and the concourse by platforms 1 and 2, the company started by the Murrell family in Arlington, Virginia back in 1986 continues its global expansion by serving burgers, fries and milkshakes in central Florence following the January opening at I Gigli shopping mall in Campi Bisenzio.
The famous red and white chequered colour theme is on full display in what used to be a supermarket, while sacks of Dutch potatoes and cans of the company’s peanut oil feed the vibe. Having placed your order, which can be tailored to your taste, such as the bacon cheeseburger with pickles, tomatoes and jalapeño peppers and Cajun fries, make the most of the 60-plus seats and tables in the upstairs lounge. Two Coca-Cola Freestyle soda machines allow the thirsty to fill (and refill) their Five Guys-branded paper cups with variations on Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite, from cherry, strawberry and orange to limited-edition flavours that change throughout the year. Milkshakes are the thing at Five Guys, including salted caramel, peanut butter and even bacon bits.
With prices starting at 8.95 euro for a “Little Hamburger”, it’s worth noting that the brand strives to concentrate on quality using fresh ingredients and zero frozen products. Open from 11am to 10pm daily.
