FOODIE/Fish & Chip Festival Until August 16 Stadio Comunale, via Puccini, Barga

Need a Ferragosto alternative to the boiling city or the crowded coast? Book a train to tiny Barga for the final days of the Fish and Chip Festival. The story goes that one Duke of Argyll vacationed here, recruiting locals to work on his land back in Britain and forever blurring the lines between Barga and Scotland. Dance to traditional Scottish tunes while you get your fish-and-chip fix at the Stadio Comunale. Gluten-free options are available for the celiac crowd. See the sagra’s Facebook page for more information.
