Florence’s food scene took centre stage this week as the sixth edition of the Forchettiere Awards brought together Tuscany’s culinary highlights at the Teatro del Sale. With over 20 winners spanning restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias, cocktail bars and more, the evening offered a snapshot of a dining culture that continues to evolve while staying rooted in tradition.

During the ceremony, hosted by Adriana Tancredi before an audience of over 150 people, each winner was announced from a shortlist of five finalists. These finalists had been selected by both a public jury and a technical panel from over 200 venues participating in the competition. Voting took place throughout March on the Il Forchettiere website. Meanwhile, the 55-member technical jury, whose vote counted for 60 per cent, also expressed their preferences.

Among the new features were the Jury’s Choice awards, given to those receiving the most votes from the technical panel, following last year’s introduction of the People’s Choice awards for public favorites. Another announcement made on stage was the beginning of a collaboration with the Caponnetto Foundation to reinforce a commitment to ethical, transparent dining practices, involving the participating restaurants. A new category for Best Agritourism Cuisine in Tuscany debuted in partnership with Terranostra (Coldiretti). In some cases, last year’s winners presented the awards, launching a tradition symbolizing a “passing of the torch” between winners. There was also a touching tribute to content creator Stefano Incerti, who passed away a few months ago.
