The artistic careers of the next major Florentine masters could be launched tomorrow in the San Frediano area! In collaboration with the Amici del Nidiaci, Patrizia Zingaretti, an Oltrarno artist with a studio in Piazza Tasso, will lead neighborhood children on a tour to some of the area’s most beautiful tabernacles. The group will meet tomorrow (Saturday, May 17) at 3pm in Piazza Piattellina on the Via del Leone side.
Participants can expect to visit at least five tabernacles, learning more about the art in each space and its ongoing relevance to the life of the historic neighborhood.
At around 4:30, the children will head to the Bartlett-Nidiaci garden to get their hands dirty: Zingaretti will lead them in a fun, interactive workshop focusing on pigments and painting techniques.
Participants are asked to bring paintbrushes, empty jars and an apron.
Apart from being a family-friendly weekend activity, the initiative aims to take a small step toward reframing the dialogue about cultural heritage, demonstrating that ‘heritage’ is not just about museum exhibitions and isolated monuments. The focus, instead, will be on how heritage is integrated into the fabric of everyday life.
