PLAY: Written by the great Italian Renaissance philosopher, Niccolò Machiavelli, The Mandrake is sure to delight audiences with its frolicsome tale of Callimaco and his infatuation with Lucrezia, the beautiful wife of the wealthy fool, Nicia. Pretending to be a doctor, he devises a potion that will cause Lucrezia to conceive, but the catch is that the first man to be with her will meet a grim end. With deception, confusion and hilarity ensured, this highly satirical play from 1524 is not to be missed.
