Borgo Santa Croce has been back on the radar since the Scandinavian-inspired Andersen Café opened late this summer, injecting fresh energy into the neighborhood. Steered by savvy moms and former classmates Clementina and Irene, the café’s concept aims to keep both parents and little ones happy, offering ambience, menu options and activities that appeal to all.

Now that the bar is firmly on the Florentine map, the duo has teamed up with the Associazione HeyArt, launching a series of Sunday Andersen Markets that are expected to continue throughout the coming year.

Combining two of Florence’s lazy-Sunday favorites—markets and mealtime—each event will have a different theme. The common thread through all of them, however, is a focus on local artisans and good food. Each market will feature a DJ set and ‘Brown Bag Brunch,’ a Charlie Brown-inspired school-style meal, designed to be savored as you shop. Muffins, orange juice and freely flowing American coffee will all be on offer, with vegetarian and kids’ options available.

The successful debut market on November 1 had a home décor focus, and the team is already gearing up for the Graphics and Illustration edition on November 29.

With the holiday season underway in December, the fun will continue every Sunday: themes will be Accessories (December 6), Kids (December 13) and a mixed-bag market for last-minute shopping (December 20).
