Though new rules promise to keep violence in check at this year’s calcio storico, you can still bet on plenty of testosterone. A combination of soccer, rugby and any sport requiring players to beat the stew out of each other, Florence’s annual match promises to be as exciting as ever. Don’t miss it even if just to see boys in traditional Florentine costumes and the piazza turned into a playing field with a sand pit and goals running the length of both sides.
