Michelangelo’s Crucifix has been given a new set-up in the Sacristy of Santo Spirito. Thanks to a donation by the non-profit Friends of Florence, the late 15th-century wooden sculpture was cleaned and moved to its new location within the Sacristy. “We’re happy to contribute to the promotion of Michelangelo’s Crucifix and to enhancing the use of the Sacristy,” expressed Friends of Florence president Simonetta Brandolini d’Adda. “The Santo Spirito neighbourhood, with its extraordinary basilica, is a special place in the Oltrarno community to protect and experience.” Its placement at the center of the room allows for the Crucifix to be enjoyed from every angle and is directly visible from inside the church, creating a dialogue between the work and the church’s visitors.
