Reader, upon learning that I have only ever been to two football matches—one in Scotland (Clachnacuddin vs. Forres Mechanics, not exactly Serie A) and, more recently, one in Florence—you would have every right to wonder, ‘Who does she think she is to compare the two football cultures?’ I’d like to think that my observations, if more anthropological than sporting, actually reveal some interesting differences. Sports and football enthusiast, Oliver Bunting, was a great source of knowledge when it came to the more technical side of the game…
