For the third consecutive year, the Tuscan countryside will welcome birds of prey of all shapes and sizes for the international gathering of falconers between December 8 and 11. An ancient art with renewed meaning, falconry is receiving increased interest, particularly under the endorsement of renowned Chianti Classico wine producers, the Zingarelli family, which is currently celebrating 50 years of business.
The Rocca delle Macìe estate vaunts its very own hunting reserve, which has been spreading knowledge of this noble art since the founding of the wildlife project in 2021. The four-day gathering will see trainers come to the Zingarelli estate, south of Castellina in Chianti, with their raptor species. Covered by indigenous vegetation, Rocca delle Macìe is the ideal setting for this celebration of falconry, with the reserve credited as Italy’s first centre for exhibitions, training and ancestral hunting.
The event has received the backing of the Tuscan regional government and will feature test flights, as well as discussions about hunting and breeding. Over 45 falconers from across Europe are due to attend and hope to embrace this opportunity to reignite interest in an ancient tradition.
