One of the world’s most loved ballets, Swan Lake, ensures an unforgettable experience over the festive period with Teatro della Pergola hosting the acclaimed performers from the Opera Națională Română Iași (Romanian National Opera) on December 22.
Performed in 1877 for the first time at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky‘s music with the renowned choreography by Marius Petipa received resounding acclaim when it was staged at the Marijinkskij Theatre in St. Petersburg in 1894. The enchanting story that has charmed audiences for centuries tells of the love between the young prince Siegfried and Odette, who was transformed into a swan by the evil magician Rothbart for having rejected him.
The skilled dancers of Iasi Opera Ballet, one of the most acclaimed classical dance companies, has been touring Europe for more than 24 years, bringing this masterpiece to the historic Teatro della Pergola stage with evocative scenography and light designs that immerse audiences in the magical atmosphere, a quintessentially festive experience close to Christmas.
