TF goes green

New delivery is zero emission
(issue no. 148/2011 / September 15, 2011)

As of this issue, The Florentine will be delivering issues exclusively by bike courier thanks to collaboration with the Florence's new emissions-free delivery service, Ecopony. Papers will reach distribution points from 9am to noon every other Thursday. This change promises a better, eco-friendly service, since the bikes have full access throughout Florence's new pedestrian areas.

Formed in May 2011, Ecopony, a local enterprise, is Florence's first company born exclusively as a bike courier. The five young people who make up Ecopony are a cooperative, and although they are not the only bike couriers in Florence, they are part of a larger network of Italian couriers pedalling through other Italian cities like Milan, Parma, Pisa and Rome. Ecopony has also developed a logistics software that runs on the iPhone, permitting cyclists-and the packages they deliver-to be geolocalized at all times.

Look out for the biker with the TF logo and say hello to your friendly delivery guy! For more information, see www.ecopony.it.
